CONCENTRATING THE MIND

I have awakened in the arms of a cold, raw throat with two golf balls stuck at either side, aching limbs and so on and so forth..you catch the drift but fortunately far enough away  not to catch this cold.
I look a hundred years old and feel twice that (she says with hand held dramatically to forehead).
How come with the wonders of modern science they have not found a quick cure or indeed irradicated it altogether? Replacing lost limbs, heart transplants, organs of all kinds transplanted and so on and so forth,  we are still held firmly in the arms of this particular virus.

I have spent the weekend with my brother and sister inlaw. It was lovely to see them we laughed a lot and talked  about life and its ups and downs.
I have seen more of him as we have aged and recently he has been ill and we discussed how that concentrates the mind. When you are very poorly and I don't mean a cold, I mean with real life threatening ill health, one begins to see what is important. Whether that actually lasts into the future is to be proven, we make decisions and panic when we're ill we realise that there are things undone that need to be tidied up. Sometimes we decide that what we have been doing in life is not the path we wish to tread or maybe we decide that we are lucky and want to take off full throttle?
Either way when you think you might have lost to illness someone you love then you realise how precarious life is. If you are ill yourself you realise how impermenent life is and how it can be switched off at any time. Mostly you recognise how we have no control over anything no matter what we think.
We can be doing everything in our power to stay alive, dieting, keeping fit, eating healthily, walking everywhere, we often see that as having some control over life but it's not true. We are without control where life is concerned. We have no power or say over what the universe has in store for us all we have is hope and doing the best we can with what we know.
